What is B2C contact data? Individual phone and email lists explained
What a B2C (consumer) contact dataset contains, how it differs from B2B business data, and what you must check before using individual phone or email lists.
B2C data โ contact data โ is contact information about individual people rather than companies: typically a phone number, first name, city, region, postcode and sometimes an email address. B2B data describes businesses: company name, business phone, website and category.
What a contact dataset row looks like
| Phone | First name | City | Region | Postcode | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| +61 4xx xxx xxx | Alex | Sydney | NSW | 2000 | (where available) |
Each dataset page shows the exact columns and the measured share of rows that have each one.
Why contact data has stricter rules
Contact data is personal data. On this marketplace a contact dataset is only published after the seller records four statements that are shown publicly on the dataset page: collection method, permitted use, lawful basis / permission evidence and a compliance note. Sensitive categories (health, religion, political opinion, financial account data, government IDs) are never sold.
Individual phone lists vs email lists
- Phone lists are used for telemarketing and, where consent allows, SMS. Check phone coverage and the international-format share.
- Email lists only make sense where email coverage is high and your campaign has a lawful basis for email marketing. See email lists by country for datasets with measured email coverage.
Before you buy any B2C list
- Read the dataset's sourcing and permitted-use statements.
- Check coverage of the field you will use.
- Plan your suppression and opt-out process.
- Keep the Pack IDs so every record can be traced to its source file.
